Amazon is hosting another COVID-19 vaccination clinic on its Seattle headquarters campus on Sunday, a week after the tech giant’s first pop-up effort resulted in 2,400 people receiving a shot against the deadly virus.
Amazon is partnering with Virginia Mason to vaccinate another 2,000 people this week. Washington state is currently in Phase 1B of vaccine distribution, which includes anyone 65 and older and people 50 and older who live in a multigenerational household. People can use the state's Phase Finder online tool to check eligibility and those interested and eligible for a vaccine can sign-up on Virginia Mason’s waitlist.
Last Sunday’s clinic turned the Amazon Meeting Center, next to the company’s Doppler office tower, into a makeshift medical facility, full of patients, volunteers and medical workers. The line of people waiting to be vaccinated snaked around the block, and those interviewed by GeekWire said the process took about 30 to 45 minutes end to end.
Microsoft is also turning its mostly-vacant campus into a vaccination site, the company announced last week. Microsoft is providing the state with technology expertise and support as part of the new Washington State Vaccine Command and Coordination Center. The group also includes Starbucks, which is helping with 'œoperational efficiency, scalable modeling and human-centered design expertise and support,' while Costco is helping with 'œvaccine delivery by pharmacies.'
